A 35 member Sri Lankan contingent for Asian Beach games in Muscat

alt(Colombo Lankapuvath) The first Asian Beach games are to commence in Muscat, Oman from 8 December 2010 to 16 December 2010.

Sri Lanka will stage a 35 member contingent for the games and the team is led by Beach Volleyball player Mahesh Perera.


Beach Handball, Beach Kabaddi , Beach Sepaktakraw , Beach Soccer, Beach Volleyball, Beach Waterpolo, Beach Woodball, Bodybuilding, Jetski Sport, Marathon Swimming, Sailing, Tent Pegging,Triathlon  and Waterski are included in the game.

As a new game, Beach handball has been introduces and Sanctioned by the International Handball Federation (IHF) and the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) the beach handball competition at Muscat 2010 will include both the men’s and women’s team tournaments.

A 100 Hectare Site at Wudam Al Sahil near Muscat has been altdeveloped to host the 2010 Asian Beach Games. It compromises a mixture of temporary and permanent facilities such as a hotel for media and guests, an athletes village, administration building, press and media centre, restaurants and recreational facilities, site wide infrastructure including a marina and adequate parking facilities.

Nearly 42 countries will be taking part in the tournament.
